The Nine Crystals Chapter 1 (new)

Chapter 1

The teeth

The loud sound of the hairdryer woke Lizzy, she tried to sit up, but since she was rolled up into a blanket burrito, she fell. She worried at the taste of blood, she moved her tongue to feel for the wiggly tooth, but it was gone. She froze then spat out the tooth onto her free hand, she was frightened but when she found out that the tooth fairy will come that night, she started a smile. After minutes of struggling, she finally got out of the blankets, she started heading towards the bathroom she and her sister Lucile shared, she reached for the knob but the door wouldn’t open.
“Lucile open the door” Lizzy screeched.
“Go away Elizabeth! I’m drying my hair!” Lucile stoped the deafening hairdryer only to tell Lizzy to use their mom’s bathroom, Lizzy got angry after that.
When Lizzy went down the stairs to the kitchen, she smelled something amazing, she smiled and said
“Pancakes!”

She started humming the tune of her favorite song until she remembered the tooth she was still holding in between her index finger and her thumb. She rushed to the bathroom to look in the mirror. She went in front of the mirror and opened her mouth, she groaned, she couldn’t see a thing. She had an idea she would take a photo with her mom’s phone, so she did she took one look at the photo and deleted it immediately, it looked gross.

After breakfast, she went to go see what day it was, since it was summer she had forgotten what day it was, she checked the calendar and cheered knocking over a plastic cup of pencils.

“Shut up Lizzy” called Lucile who had finally gotten out of the bathroom. Lizzy looked up and saw Lucile, a tall, and slim with long silky brown hair. She saw her sister looking down at Lizzy who was crouching near a cupboard to put away the pencils she had spilled while celebrating. She got up and started humming again, as she walked to the table she had forgotten her tooth on the cupboard she grabbed it and put it in a small plastic bag, which she put on a cabinet where she puts all her school stuff so she wont forget to bring it to her pillow the next time she needs to go upstairs to her bedroom.

The next day after the tooth was safely hidden under her pillow as well as a note that she wrote before bed earlier that night, she made sure she wasn’t in another burrito she got up and lifted her pillow so nothing would fall behind her bed, she looked at it and frowned,

“At least there is a note,” Lizzy thought as she opened the bag the fairy had left, she took out the funny looking stone and look carefully at it, it looked like it was glowing she threw it on her bed and started taking the note, it read,

Nine crystals
Around the Earth,
Nine crystals
To unearth
Only together
They can make it be
Only together
They can set the power free.
- The Tooth Fairy

She knew it was fake but instead of throwing it away, she kept it safe with the rock in her jewelry music box, she put it away to think about how it was Monday and that she would get to see her friends Piper and Stella, they were twins, not identical just born at the same time. She thought about that when she got dressed and decided to put it in her pocket to show the twins.

After breakfast, she called her mom to tell her that it is nine in the morning and she needed to go to her all-day playdate which she goes to the twins’ house or they come to Lizzy’s every Monday ever since Lizzy moved further away from her friends, they used to be neighbors, but now they live 5-minute drive away. A tall woman with short rusty brown hair walked down the stairs.
“Mom let’s go! ” Lizzy yelled
“Did you eat Elizabeth?” her mom yelled
“Yes,” Lizzy groaned “Now can we go?”

Chapter 2: The crystals

Chapter 2: The crystals
This evening, when Elizabeth came home from her play date, she sat down and wrote a quick letter to the tooth fairy. She told her about Stella and Piper and her awesome day at their house. After she was happy with her letter, Lizzy put the fallen tooth in the tooth fairy bag and went upstairs to brush her teeth and change to her PJs.
Sharing a bed with Lucile was nice when Lizzy had nightmares, but lately, most mornings, Lizzy would find herself on the ground, rolled in blankets like a burrito. Lucile kicked and turned, pushed Lizzy away in her sleep, and stole her pillow.
Lizzy considered putting the tooth under her pillow, but quickly decided against it and instead she left the note and the tooth on the bedside table.
The next morning Lizzy woke up on the floor again. She had her pillow, but when she checked under it her fingers found only the long bristles of the soft carpet. There was nothing there. Then she remembered that she left the note and the tooth on the bedside table. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. She stretched and reached for the bedside table. Fingertips coming empty, Lizzy sat up and searched for the little white, velvet baggy. The letter was gone. Her fingers reached inside the bag and she gave a disappointed sight. She pulled out the little thing that felt very much like the tooth she’d put in there last night.
She looked at her hand and her eyes widened in surprise. A small purple crystal rolled in her palm.  She looked again at the little bag and noticed a small piece of paper sticking out. A letter from the tooth fairy! It read:

Nine crystals
Around the Earth,
Nine crystals
To unearth
Only together
They can make it be
Only together
They can set the power free.
- The Tooth Fairy

---
The week went excruciatingly slow. Lizzy couldn’t wait to show her treasure to Stella and Piper. When finally Monday morning came she woke up earlier than everyone, made pancakes, ate most of them leaving some for Lucille and Mom so they get ready faster. Then, she sat on the couch to wait for her mom to get ready to go, jumping at every noise and staring at the clock. The big green screen showed 7:20AM for what seemed like an eternity.
Finally, at 8:30AM, everyone was ready to leave when Lizzy remembered the little tooth fairy bag with her treasure was still upstairs in her treasure chest. She kicked off her shoes and ran upstairs.
From upstairs she heard the car start and the garage door open. She grabbed the little bag and pushed it in her front pocket, then ran back downstairs and to the car, stopping only to grab her shoes.
“Buckle up” Mommy sang, pressing the button to close the door.

When they finally arrived at Stella and Piper’s house, Lizzy was so exited to see them she unbuckled before the car was fully stopped. This earned her a minute lecture on safety from mom, before she could let her go.
When she opened the car door, Stella and Piper were standing just outside our car. In their outstretched hands each of them held a crystal.

The Nine Crystals - Chapter 1

The loud buzz of her sister’s hair drier woke Lizzy up. She groaned loudly and reached for the covers to pull them over her head. The blanket was stuck, it slipped out of her hand and her fist connected with her mouth. She tasted blood. Her tongue found the one loose tooth and gave it a little wiggle. The tooth fell out.

Lizzy jumped off the bed holding her bloody prize, grinning from ear to ear. She slid in the bathroom behind her older sister and checked out her toothless smile in the mirror.
“Ewww, Elizabeth!” her sister, Lucille screeched and finally turned off the noisy torture device she was using to style her hair. Lizzy made a mental note to wish for her own room in her note to the tooth fairy tonight and pocketed the precious baby tooth.

It was Monday. Monday was her favorite day of the week because on Mondays, Lizzy went to her best friends’ house for an all day long play date. The twins, Stella and Piper were nine years old, just like Lizzy, they used to be neighbors and go to the same school. She only saw them during the breaks now and she was looking forwards to their adventures together in the forest behind their huge back yard.
Lizzy skipped down the stairs, humming a happy tune. “Mom, it’s Monday! Can you drive me to Stella and Piper’s house?” chirped Lizzy breaking her tune.
“Get your breakfast and jump in the car, I’ll be there in a sec.”
Lucille sneaked around the corner and stole the sandwich from Lizzy’s plate but even that didn’t break Lizzy’s good mood. She grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and skipped happily to the car.
Five minutes later, Lizzy arrived to the twins’ house. Piper ran to meet her at the door. In her outstretched hand she was holding a tiny white thing. A tooth! The girls embraced and jumped joyfully in place. Stella came and joined the group hug and happy chatter. “I have a really wiggling tooth too!” said Stella and grinned and pushed the loose tooth impatiently with her tongue to point it out.
“I think you should pull it out!” said Lizzy. “Mine came out this morning too, wouldn’t it be fun if the Tooth Fairy visit all of us in the same night?”
“Pull it out! Pull it out!” chanted Piper.
“OK, I’ll do it!” Stella pressed the girls back with her extended hands to quiet them down. Piper and Lizzy looked at her expectantly. She gently wiggled the tooth with her fingers. A thin streak of blood appeared and ran over her lip.
“No, I’m too scared!” Stella’s voice shook as her determination wavered. Piper reached towards her mouth to help and Stella quickly tried to cover her lips with her hand but she slapped herself in the hurry. “Ouch!” The little nudge turned out to be the final push the tiny baby tooth needed. She spat it on her palm and the three girls pushed their heads together to admire it.
“Race you to your pillow!” the girls ran towards the house and up the stairs to Piper and Stella’s room.
